Canine Influenza Update June 2019

By July 5, 2019 November 2nd, 2021 No Comments

June 21, 2019:

We have just learned that there has been another outbreak of Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) here in the Bay Area.  Oakland Animal Services has 2 dogs confirmed H3N2 positive and 100 more sick at the shelter. We are just two weeks away from one of the busiest boarding weeks of the year – July 4th holiday.  If your dog will be boarding anywhere over the upcoming holiday, please be sure your pet is protected with the CIV vaccine.  If you have recently passed on bolstering your dog’s vaccine while waiting for news of another outbreak, now is the time to boost that vaccine.

Please be proactive and help prevent the spread of this virus in San Francisco.  Try to limit your dog’s socializing in dog parks or any place where many dogs tend to congregate to help limit exposure.  If your pet is coughing or has a runny nose, call us at (415) 752-3300 to schedule an appointment.

We want to keep your best friend happy and healthy. Give us a call at (415) 752-3300 to schedule your dog’s vaccine appointment today.

Thank you,
