Illness & Injury
Furry Family Sick? Dog losing weight? Cat not urinating? Has your pet been injured? Does your rabbit have Behavior issues? The Balboa Pet Hospital provides full veterinary hospital services including Preventative Care, Diagnostics, Pet Surgery, Pet Dentistry, Acupuncture, and Holistic Medicine and Emergency Care and Medical Boarding. Whether your pet is limping, not eating, shaking their head, vomiting, straining to urinate or just isn't feeling quite right, it's important to have your cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pig or exotic pet seen and examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Many of us intuitively know something's wrong, but are unsure of what signs to watch for. Here's a good overview from our friends at Pet Health Network.
The most important thing you want to see in a healthy pet is consistency in the following areas.
Is your pet.......
- Drinking more water? Drinking less water?
- Urinating: too much? too little?
- Having difficulty urinating (can be a medical emergency, get your pet seen right away!)
- Experiencing Weight Gain or Loss
- Eating too much? Eating too little?
- Vomiting, diarrhea? one or both.
- Changes in behavior or the way they walk.
- Signs of Pain
Your observations and the veterinarians exam are crucial to getting your pet the care and intervention it needs. Pets do not talk, can't tell us they are in pain and are often quite good at hiding their illness. Get your pet to us ASAP so that our veterinarians can give them the comprehensive exam they need. Of course, if you have an emergency like a dog park injury, just come in!
We consider you our partner and encourage your questions. Together we can help to provide a long and happy life to your furry best friend, dog cat or pet exotic. Whether your pets are healthy or sick, they need you to be their voice and advocate. We work with you to provide the preventive care, diagnostics and medical treatments that all your pets need.
In addition to practicing Traditional Western Veterinary Medicine, Balboa Pet Hospital offers Alternative Therapies as well.
